Why won't my lawn mower start? Ran when parked. 6.5 HP G&S gas engine.

Have you tried spraying flammable gasses into the intake?

How long ago was it ran? Gas with ethanol tends to gum up the fuel lines/carbs of lawn equipment if it sits too long. Did you pull and inspect the spark plug?

It's broken.

Did you check your battery? I throw mine in the basement with a trickle charger for the winter

I will now respond to this in form if a Red Hot Chili Peppers chorus:

SPARK PLUG.

GAS LINE.

CLOGGED JET.

BAD FUEL.

What Party-vi said. Clean the carb along with spark plug and filter replacement if needed, and it should start. Where I work, we have a small engine repair shop and bad fuel/gummed up carburetor is probably 90% of our repairs.

After a few more pulls, it finally started. Much like myself. It's long overdue for some maintenance, so I'll put all these suggestions on my Spring To-Do list.

Thanks.

No details in the question yields no details in the response, or as the more process oriented among us would say, "shit in, shit out."

pull the air cleaner, dump some gas in the carb and pull! That's how I got my snow thrower to start.

It eventually started. It needs a tune up, so it looks like it's time to delve into small engine maintenance.

Good luck. I once dismantled a riding lawn mower to get at the engine and then 4 months later moved the dismantled riding lawn mower and engine to the curb. LOL

Well, not being that well versed in engine repair, I was thinking I'd go for the easy stuff: air cleaner, new plug, oil change. I should be able to manage that without ruining it.

Shouldn't be too bad.
